Tell me how you would check the tyres to ensure that they have sufficient tread depth and that their general condition is safe to use on the road.
No cuts and bulges, 1.6mm of tread depth across the central three quarters of the breadth of the tyre and around the entire outer circumference.
Explain to the examiner that you would:
Check that there are no cuts or bulges on the side wall of the tyre.
Ensure there is a minimum of 1.6mm of tread evenly over the width of the surface of the tyre.
Your should check your tyre tread every month.
Remember to check all your tyres.
1.6mm is the legal minimum, however you should think about replacing any tyres with less than 3mm of tread on them in case of poor driving conditions.
Don't forget about your spare tyre, it's of no use if it is unsafe to drive on.
